About
Updated Last on 2/18/2008
It has been quite a while since I updated this “About Me” page and a lot of things have changed from the time it was first written. The traffic for the site has been going crazy lately and that means a lot of new people who probably want to know who is writing this ridiculous site.
Who Is this Guy?
Well, that’s me there on the left. I was doing the Soulja Boy at my wedding. Yeah, I can’t dance, if that isn’t blatantly obvious from the picture.
Also obvious from the picture is my love of food. As you may have guessed, I didn’t get that big by eating lettuce and tofu.
I do in fact love food, probably too much, and probably all the wrong kinds. The way I see it though, you only live once and what’s life if you can’t eat the food you enjoy?
Don’t You Have Anything Better to Do?
Well, no not really. I spend a great deal of time with my beautiful wife and I’ve annoyed my dog enough where she doesn’t mind me having my attention elsewhere. Sure, I’ve got a day job, but this site is a hell of a lot more fun.
Some people exercise, some people drink and others smoke. I keep this site so fresh and so clean. Most food blogs are so utterly boring their writers might as well be jotting everything down in a notebook because they are the only ones that will ever read it.
I like to keep it lively on Eatingcleveland.com, often using some colorful language to describe my experiences. So, if you read something on the site that offends you, I suggest taking it with a grain of salt. Make that a pinch.
Cleveland? Seriously?
If you’re not from Cleveland, you may think this site is some kind of joke, but I am here to tell you that the culinary scene in Cleveland is severely underrated. While our food has gotten a bit of press recently, it won’t last long, but that’s fine with me. Cleveland has so much to offer culinary and when it gets passed over that just leaves more for us.
Hey Fatty, What Gets Your Tastebuds in a Tizzy?
Well, that’s just not nice. But since you asked, this is from the top of my head:
- Authentic Mexican food, especially tacos
- Barbecue
- Braised foods
- Broccoli and Asparagus - just barely blanched, a little salt
- Thai Food
- Fresh Spices
- Pizza - has to be a good thin pie
- Rustic Foods
- Wine - especially reds (yes, times change, people change)
Although Unlikely, Anything You Don’t Like to Eat?
There really is very little I don’t like, but a few come to mind:
- Celery - the suckiest of all foods
- Salmon
- Caterpillars - believe me, I wish this wasn’t on my list.
Enjoy the site and have a little fun with your food. And remember, don’t ever trust skinny people to recommend good food.
-Mark
