I’ve been eating a lot of roasted vegetables lately and I generally prepare them simply with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. But I have to tell you, for applying the oil, brushes really suck. The old fashioned pastry brushes are impossible to clean and the new fangled silicone ones are completely worthless.
That’s where this cool little device, the Misto, comes in.
The Misto oil sprayer is essentially a aluminum cylinder with a cap that has a sprayer nozzle like a paint can. You put your own oil in (it also works with vinegar and any other liquid for that matter) the cylinder, replace the cap and use the lid to pump it. The pumping builds pressure which allows use to use the spray nozzle without any propellant chemicals. Pretty sweet.
A few pumps is enough to spray for 10 seconds and the light mist created by the nozzle is perfect for oiling up a pan or spraying on vegetables before grilling.
I really like this little gadget, it’s easy to use, easy to clean and it only cost $10. You can’t beat it.

I’ve had one of these for a few years. You are right, it’s a great tool and so much better than the “cooking spray” you buy at the grocery store. Only complaint is after time it does not spray consistently. Guess it’s time to buy a new one.

My Dad has one of these. If it stops spraying consistantly, it means the oil is gummed up the sprayer mechanism. Try soaking the sprayer and tube in hot water with dish detergent. Let it sit for a little while and then pump the soapy water through the sprayer. (with the tube in the hot water) That should clean it out. It worked for my Dad anyway and he’s had his misto for about 7 or 8 years. As an aside–he always used Dawn dish detergent b/c he says it cuts grease best.

another way of coating the veggies is to put everything into a large bowl, add oil and seasonings, then toss. i think that coats the veggies pretty well.

you are late for this party, hell just save an empty 375 ml vino bottle shove herbs in it and evo and drizzle away. The coolest one of these babies was the vermouth atomizer you take in a bar like those little cheezey peppermills yentas carry.
