My 2 year old loves spicy food, beans, hummous, and tofu. It is so enjoyable to see them build their little palettes.

My children were encouraged to be adventurous eaters within reason, and to this day I'm glad for it. I have a 15 year old who loves clams, calamari and shellfish and a four year old who loves everything. They both love cold water as well, and often choose that as a beverage eating out without being asked.

Often I think adults project their own finicky habits onto kids, and I certainly think they take it too seriously when first told a child doesn't like something. BS- I keep offering that food until they get used to it, and we also avoid children's menus- most of them are garbage with no nutritional value.
