Few things in this world get me more excited than the smell of meat being smoked over real hardwood charcoal. The birth of my son was exciting and all, but the food selection afterwards paled in comparison to a barbeque smorgasbord. I only kid. The placenta tasted great after I smoked it over some hickory.
I don’t have my smoker anymore so I’m really fiending for some good barbecue, but we live in Cleveland where often “good barbeque” and “McRib” are mentioned in the same sentence. That doesn’t say much for our barbeque selection.
So I turn to you, good people of Cleveland. Where’s the best place to get some of the Mr.Brown and Ms. White in Cleveland?

Sadly I have not a found a real old school do it right barbeque place in Cleveland. I enjoy Bubba Q’s but that’s way out in Avon.

My backyard. I’d like to say I’m kidding, but, I’m not. I can work magic with pork shoulder.
Failing that, Bubba Q’s on 83 in Avon is really good.

I’ve been to Bubba’s Q. It was only once but I just wasn’t impressed enough to return. It’s far away, but I travel even further to get to Rotunu’s in Elyria. I only started going recently so I’ve only been a couple times but I liked it and I’ve recommended it with success.
I also like the ribs at Hot Sauce Williams. They’re almost always meaty and juicy.
I just tried B&M. I had the Polish Boy which was pretty good even if the fries weren’t crispy. It didn’t come with pork shoulder. Apparently, for that you have to order the Polish girl. After years of eating Polish boys at Hot Sauce Williams, it never even occurred to me that I wouldn’t get shoulder on it.
I have a list of BBQ restaurants that I want to try. Are there any that you think I should cross off my list?

I agree with Stuart, Bubba’s is overrated. Horrible service and average barbecue. Their sauce is not very good and they don’t offer any variations of it unless you want to buy a bottle to take home. I even contacted Bubba to discuss our service issues and he blew me off.
I live 3 minutes from Bubba’s but would rather drive the extra 15 to get to Rotuno’s. I actually think I will head there tonight!

We enjoy Whitmore’s on Euclid Ave. in Euclid and Vern’s BBQ in South Euclid. My husband loves the pork shoulder and ribs at Vern’s.
