I just had a quick dinner after golfing at Scooter’s Dawg House on Rt.44 North just a few miles North of the Heisley exit on Rt.2.
I may be a sick heathen, but there is something so utterly satisfying about a deep-fried foot-long hot dog smothered in cheese, chili, ketchup, mustard, relish and onions. Not to mention the fact that it’s a requirement to include a giant pile of Scooter’s fresh-cut fries doused with vinegar.
I feel like I might die. What a great way to go.

I got a good laugh that this post came after the ten healthy foods for under one dollar article, but that does sound pretty delicious.

You failed to mention the important fact – where and how did you golf? And . . . you didn’t have a dog at the turn??? Unforgivable.

We golfed at a par 3 course in Mentor called Johnnycake Ridge. I did quite well beating my score from the week before by 3 strokes.
And for a hot dog at the turn, the turn at Johnnycake Ridge consists of a Coke machine that is older than I am and some squirrels. I wasn’t hungry for squirrel.

Woah. You had me at deep-fried foot-long. Are you kidding me?
I have died and gone to food heaven. And I need to visit some relatives out in Mentor now…

Wow what a JOKE this place is. Working there was a complete wreck. Their employees are horrible people and as are the owners! The owners treat their employees like crap and the other people working are just horrible. They are slow at their jobs and are never thinking about the customers. Being a FOMER employee, i have seen everything that goes on when the customers are not around and i would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

Scooters just rocks period, Scott the owner really goes all out to make you feel at home, like family. I have ordered just about everything on the menu, THe choices for hot dogs are endless, my wife loves the hawiian dog(mozzerela cheese, pineapple, tomato, miracle whip)i know it sounds weird, but it works. One thing tho, if your getting food just for yourself, order a jr order of the hand cut fries. its like a large or super size at mcdonalds. The burgers are some of the best i have tasted, juicy, seasoned just right, made to order too. I wish scott would open one in geauga county lol

Sounds like a disgruntled worker if I ever heard one. If you are so passionate about hating Scooters perhaps you should be brave enough to use your real name instead of remaining anonymous.
Having never worked there, I have to say that Scooters is one of my family’s favorite places to eat a fast food meal that really isn’t. They obviously are doing something right or they wouldn’t still be in business and filling up the place on a regular basis.
If you really thought about it, most of us probably wouldn’t eat out at restaurants if we knew what “really goes on behind the scenes” but the whole point of eating out is that we get to sit on the other side. Ignorance can sometimes be bliss, or in Scooter’s case — one kick butt hot dog (oh yeah — and did I mentioned the mountain of best ever fries — order the small — it will still be more than you can eat)! The root beer shakes are a treat too. Enjoy all!!

My boyfriends mom and sister intorduced us to Scooter’s 2 years ago when we were up for a visit. The owner was one of the nicest people we have ever met
The service was far from slow and the dogs were great
