I’m pretty far away from the Ceveland food scene right now, I’m back home in Massachusetts for the summer, but I’d like to write a write-up for AWESOME customer service.
I’m talking, believe it or not about the huge corporation that is General Mills.
I recently ate 2 boxes of gushers (strawberry and watermelon), and was HORRIFIED to find both boxes containing a smaller goo to solid ratio. That’s right, my gushers were hardly gushing and I was shocked.
I promptly e-mailed the General Mills customer service in fear of my favorite fruit snacks recipe being altered, and they responded with a friendly e-mail acknowledging my concerns and told me it was possibly some sort of error, but assured me nothing has changed with the recipe or the proportions. I just got a bad box.
Understandable. These things happen. That’s all well and good as far as customer service goes, and I was just happy to see them address my concerns.
But then they went as far as to send me reimbursements for the problem! Above and beyond the call of duty, General Mills! And for that I hope to spread the word and see this blog get published in Cleveland’s most notorious food blog website as a thank you.
Great customer service deserves acknowledgment. Anyone else ever have a good experience with customer service? Or even more entertaining a BAD one? Comment your stories, I’d like to hear them.

My wife bought a can of Amy’s Organics no-chicken noodle soup. When she opened the can, not only was there no chicken, but there were no noodles! We got a good laugh out of the no-chicken no-noodle chicken noodle soup.
What the hell, I’ll take a digital pic as evidence and take a flyer on calling customer service. When I reached the operator I explained our situation and read off the production code. The operator said (and I don’t know if she was pulling my leg or not) that the noodle machine had malfunctioned the day our soup was made, and that the can must have slipped throught QC.
She took my name and address, and in a few short days we received 2 coupons for not soup, but ANY Amy’s product. I of course took full advantage and bought my wife a $6 Amy’s pizza. I know, shame on me.
They went above and beyond and we will always buy their products.
