I’ve spoken highly of the Mexican Grocery store on Washington St. in Painesville, but very few people I’ve talked to have actually visited.  You need to get in there and explore!  You know they have all kinds of specialty ingredients for Mexican food, but they are also my first stop for cheap produce.  The best bets in the produce department are avocados, tomatillos, limes and fresh cactus.  Yes, fresh cactus!  Its beats the hell out of green peppers any day.

If that’s not enough to convince you to make the trip over to the Mexican Grocery store, maybe these badboys will:
chorizotacos
Sweet mother those were so good!  What you are looking at there are three chorizo tacos with cilantro and onion.  That entire unbiodegradable styrofoam container set me back a total of $4.50!  I got these from the Mexican Grocery store’s new cantina located at the front of the store.  It’s like that food court in Giant Eagle except this food actually tastes good.

I love this place! I usually get a couple of beef tacos and a chorizo quesadilla. They also feature a great hot sauce with anything you order.

I miss the Latin Corner, so I may have to check this out sometime. All that cilantro, mmmm.

Anyone have an address for this place? I would love to check it out.

  6. Mark Says:

The address is 174 Washington St. in Painesville. It is right on the same street as Lake East Hospital.

You should also check our the arroz con leche (literally rice with milk). It’s a delicious desert sold in plastic cups next to the pop.

The staff speaks English and is extremely friendly. La Mexicana Grocery Store (with Senor’s Restaurant inside) has the most authentic Mexican food in Ohio.

It’s open until 10 pm most days.

Mark, what is wrong with you??? Can’t you give a positive review without ripping their heart out – why make such a big deal about the “container”? Why not suggest an alternative to the owner, privately – and be prepared to spend a little more to be able to accomodate your insensivity… What would you have them serve you in???

By the way I agree, the store and cantina are the “best”!!
