That is the word on the street folks. I just heard from a very reliable source that the building next to Mentor’s brand new Target on Mentor Ave. is going to be a Trader Joe’s store. Somewhat fantastic news.
I say somewhat fantastic because I had thought that location was going to be a Chick-fil-a. The friend I got this news from has assured me that they will both be going there. I don’t see how there is enough room for both, but then again Trader Joe’s stores generally don’t have a very large footprint.
If Trader Joe’s is coming that will allow me to visit my secret friend more frequently. See, I just recently visited the Trader Joe’s in Eaton for the first time and I quiet enjoyed it. I had thought that I visited the store a long time ago, but my wife insisted otherwise. She was right, she always is.
My particular favorites at Trader Joe’s have to be the dried fruit section and of course, the wine area. Yes, I know. I said I didn’t like wine, but that needs to be updated. They offer a ridiculous assortment of dried fruits, the best being their freeze-dried pineapple and toasted apples. I could eat a whole bag of each in a sitting. And as far as wine goes, it doesn’t get much better than Three Buck Chuck.
Let say though that there isn’t enough room over there for both a Trader Joe’s and a Chick-fil-a. Which would you rather have? I’d vote for Trader Joe’s for the ability to go there multiple times during the course of a week without feeling like a degenerate.

Trader Joe’s without question and hesitation.
Chik-fil-a is relatively healthy, as far as fast food goes, but, you just can’t beat Trader Joe’s for the selection, and the great foods they have.
I will welcome an advance and infiltration by Trader Joe’s, if only to combat the Axis of Evil that is Giant Eagle. I swear, if I were a terrorist mastermind, a Giant Eagle would be first on my list. Right after “grow really shitty beard” and “stop bathing”. But, way before “camel lovin’”.

Yippeeee, I’m sooo happy to hear this. Eaton is about 45 minutes away from where I live and so I am able to trek out there once in a good while but not as frequently as I would like too. This is very good news indeed. I would much rather have a TJ’s than a ChicFilet. You can always go to GL mall if you really must have that.

Regarding Petes comment… I too HATE Giant Eagle. I will drive 50 minutes to the West Side Market to get my meat and produce which is far superior in quality (you gotta know which vendors to trust though) and less expensive. I also like Heinens but they are a little pricey (although, in a recent study, Giant Eagle was found to be the most expensive off all grocery stores in NE OH and that survey included Heinens.)

Oh Boy, I have been so wanting a Trader Joes or a Whole
Foods in Mentor. We have been lacking in the natural foods
market, I also detest Giant Eagle and do not shop at all
there, I’m fortunate in that I have a Heinens close by. I know some areas only have the Giant Eagle. I also love the west side market but don’t always have the time to go there

I’m proud to say that I haven’t patronized Giant Eagle since July 23, 2007. Due to a cluster**** that took place in there with some out-of-control employees late at night, I’ve vowed to not “darken their doorstep” again. I moved on to Daves “Mercado” and Marc’s at first, now regularly shop at Walmart Supercenter in Steelyard. I do the occasional Sav-a-lot too, on the cheap. I LOVE Trader Joes. I’m smack dab in the middle of Crocker and Eaton, but I prefer the Crocker TJ’s because their shelves and freezers seem more well-stocked, and the Eaton store has alot of cooler space devoted to more expensive kosher meat products, which I don’t need. GIANT EAGLE SUCKS, and Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays anyhow.

A Trader Joe’s in Mentor?! Yay! I’d vote for Trader Joe’s over Chick-fil-a.
