I am an addmitted pen snob and notebook dork.  I can’t help it, I don’t know what it is, but I loves me’s a nice pen and some quality paper.  Every day I take with me a squared Moleskine notebook to jot down my to-do’s.  And even though I could very easily write all of my posts for Eatingcleveland on my computer, I choose to write them in notebooks long-hand.  It makes me feel more connected to my writing.

I was doing some research on other notebooks that I might be able to use at work for notetaking and I came across these Rhodia notebooks.  They are a European notebook that are now being distributed in the U.S. by Exaclair

While there were a number of places online to purchase these, I wanted to find a place that I could get my hands on some the same day.  I searched Exaclair’s website and saw the the Joseph Beth Bookstore in Legacy carried their products.  So after work, I made the trek out to Legacy Village, completely out of my way, but I was on a mission.  A fruitless mission it turned out.  Joseph Beth didn’t have any of the notebooks, nor did they even sell them.

I was pretty irritated so I went home and wrote Exaclair customer service about my issue with their website.  The next day I got an email from Karen Doherty, Vice President of Marketing for Exaclair.  She apologized for my inconvenience, said that she would remove Joseph Beth from their vendor listing and to top it off, send me whatever books I was going to buy that day.  I replied and within a few days, these arrived at my doorstep:

How awesome is that?  Its hard to believe a company would even care that I spent a few hours going out of my way, let alone make sure to send me the products that I was going to buy.  That is just great. Mad props to you Karen, you rock, as does Exaclair.

Exaclair distributes a number of different stationery/notebook products, see their site here for where you can buy the products online.

Joseph Beth at Legacy does carry Clairfontaine journals, bought some there in december and march. They didnt know how much to charge me however as they didnt show up in inventory.
The Utrecht store in Coventry carries the Rhodia pads. Also, if you are ever in Columbus, the Container store at Easton mall carries some Rhodia pads. Online, wetpaint out of Minneapolis was incredibly responsive to an order of mine for both Rhodia and Clairontaine stuff…
