I’m due in Cleveland at the end of the month. I’m coming with a friend who lived there 20 years ago. She is craving fried clams. We’ll be staying in the Brooklyn area. I was wondering if you have any recommendations? Hardly any places here in the dusty southwest have fried clams. Got any suggestions for us?
Fried clams in Cleveland? I’ve got nothin’. I don’t think I’ve had fried clams in about 10 years. Help Deb out, post your suggestion in the comments for a restaurant in Cleveland that serves fried clams.

I’ve had really good clams at Brennan’s in Fairport Harbor, but that’s about it.

Got me- I’m stumped as well. I was checking the only places I could think of that might have homemade fried clams (aka not from the SYSCO truck) and my usual suspects – Klucks, Nauti Mermaid and Whitey’s – let me down. Steamed clams or mussels, sure, but fried ones? Can’t think of anywhere it wouldn’t be coming off the SYSCO truck.

Although I haven’t been to the new restaurant the La Pizzaria in Stark County/East Canton used to have the BEST fried clams. They are now in the Belden Village area and is still owned by the Valentine Family. Just a short drive down I-77.
