I’ve written previously about some good experiences I’ve had at the Cleats in Wickliffe, but I went there the other day with Jessie (my fiance) and it was an awful visit.
I got the hot garlic Parmesan chicken wings and Jessie got a chicken sandwich. As before, the food was pretty darn good. Today it was all the "little stuff" that became an irritation. For example, I ordered one dozen chicken wings, but apparently Cleat’s cook was from West Virginia and he had his shoes on, because I only got 10 wings! I could see where you might be able to short a large order of wings, but after I ate the first six, I looked down to find only 4 wings. Disappointing.
The disappointment continued though, when I got my "loaded" fresh-cut potato chips. They were supposed to be "loaded" with cheese and bacon. I think that the Cleats menu should be revised to say, "sparsely decorated with just enough bacon and cheese to make you wonder if there is some type of government imposed war rationing in effect on cheese and bacon."
A couple other minor things that just rounded out the trip. Even though we ordered well before a couple of gentlemen next to us, their food came out at least 5 minutes before ours. It may have been that the food we ordered just too longer to cook, but the least our waitress could have done was to have told us that our food would be out soon.
Also, a note to Cleats: Kids like fries! Why on earth would you include rolls as the side for macaroni and cheese on the kids menu? That’s just dumb.
