Homeboy over at Blue Plate Bachelor had a post the other day about, Bacon Salt and I couldn’t pass up posting about it myself.  At first glance this seems like the second greatest invention ever (chicken nuggets shaped like animals being the first), but the more I thought about this stuff, the more I thought that it probably doesn’t add much more value than regular salt to the food.  Yeah its neat and all, but do you really want your salt to have a bacon flavor?

If anyone has actually tried Bacon Salt, please comment on this post.  I’d love to hear what you thought of it.

    Mark,

I think you had it right the first time, or almost right. Bacon Salt is THE best idea I’ve heard of in a long time. My husband and I are big salt fans and still use many different kinds of salt as we cook. But Bacon Salt adds something special to certain kinds of food. I’ve tried all the Bacon Salt products. I LOVE them… The great thing about this product is it really tastes like I’ve added bacon to whatever I’m making and yet, I don’t have to deal with the guilt of what adding real bacon does to me. I’m not talking a cheap, imitation bacon taste either like you have with other products on the market. I tried some of these products in the past and quickly wrote them off due to an off-taste or bad texture. Not so with Bacon Salt.

Almost anything savory can stand a healthy shake of this stuff to take it to another level. Add this to any dish you would serve at a BBQ, and you’ll get rave reviews. It can also change the flavor of seafood dramatically. One of my favorite main courses to add it to is scallops. We used to wrap our scallops in bacon - great flavor but lots of grease. Now we cook a much more healthy version of the same dish by using Bacon Salt. It is a product I plan on having in my kitchen as long as they will sell it to me.

The thing with Bacon Salt is that anyone can have it. I consider myself fairly health conscious…I love bacon, but I hate grease, fat, etc. The solution? Bacon Salt! I can add it to my eggs, mac and cheese, etc and get the flavor of bacon without any extra calories. It really is an ingenius idea and I think its going to be huge. Not to mention, its kosher. And really, why wouldn’t you want your salt to taste like bacon?!

This stuff is amazing, actually probably the greatest food commodity ever. I love BaconSalt. I had the unique oportunity to taste it before mass production, it really adds a whole new element to many kinds of food. You should probably do yourself a favor and get some!

To simply answer the question….YES! Bacon Salt has become a permanent addition to my Summer BBQ’s. Burger’s, Chicken…doesn’t matter, highly reccomended!

I have tried Bacon Salt and I am hooked. I never salt any of my food but Bacon Salt is so good it is addictive. It is fantastic on eggs, potatoes and just about any meat. It also can spruce up some of your vegetables. The only thing I am disappointed with is that I did not invent it. Those guys have really found a winner.

Yes, I have. I am a vegetarian and cannot have the real bacon. I love the taste of bacon but my diet doesn’t permit it. Bacon salt gives some zest to my salads and other foods. Sometimes I like to shake a little onto my tofu dogs and have it with an ice cold bud light. It’s the yummiest! 

    A) I’ve tried it and it’s fabulous.

    B) My clam chowder has never tasted so good.

    C) Regular salt doesn’t have much flavor to it… THIS IS BACON!!! (Available in hickory, BBQ, and original). The point of the product is that anything you want to have that little extra added bacon flavor, you can. Pure genius.

    D) Its meat free so my vegetarian roommate can now partake in the ‘meat’ eating festivities.. definite plus.

    E) It has endless BBQing possibilities

    F) You can now taste your two favorite meats at the same time!!! (The first being bacon and the second being chicken in the form of an animal shaped nugget). Hopefully you can appreciate how fantastic that truly is.

I’ve tried it. It’s about as good as you could imagine it being. After getting an email about it from a friend, I thought I’d check it out for myself. I contacted the website, got them to overnight me the hickory flavor (I’m not a patient man) and gave it a shot. I tried it on a baked potato, a salad and I even whipped up a little campbell’s potato soup (I’m irish, in case you’re picking up on the potato theme). It’s really good. I see it as a Lawry’s type thing, something to throw on fries, a burger, some meatloaf maybe? Anwyway, that’s my two cents. It will be in my cupboard. Definitely worth trying for bacon lovers (and ex bacon lovers who because of their arteries or their pig issues don’t enjoy bacon anymore).

Funny you should mention it, but honestly one taste will do ya! I was very skeptical at first. I mean its Salt & Bacon, two things that I know can not be good for you. Then I read some more about it. It’s not great, but now seeing in the news even diet soda is bad for you what can you do but enjoy life. So I tried it. Wow. I can’t believe there is no bacon in it. As of last night I have now tried all 3 flavors and put it on my eggs, potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, and even in my bloody mary. It’s that good. I am perplexed how so much bacon love can be in it with out any real swine. Who ever these two cats J&D are I applauded them for making something awesome and letting me give up my Johnny’s!

    Please pass the baconsalt.

Ok First of all there is a world of difference between salt and bacon salt. Having bacon salt in your cupboard is like having Michael Jordan on your team playing pickup basketball - it’s a win win situation.

Bacon Salt is as advertised. Delicious with full flavor and goes well with alot of food you already love. I heart bacon salt.

I use bacon salt in my cooking at home a ton! Its amazing on corn, eggs, on drumsticks, baked potatoes, as a marinade with a little olive oil and garlic, on popcorn and best of all, BLOODY MARYS! It’s a great product because it’s completely vegan, not terribly salty and kosher. For those of us who love bacon but don’t want the grease or saturated fats, this is a great solution.

All I have to say is: Bacon Salt on the rim of a Bloody Mary.

And amen about the tofu dogs. All my friends that try it get obsessed.

Bacon Salt is incredible. It is awesome on meat, veggies, and my favorite, the peppered flavor in Bloody Mary’s. Every bar should have it, every restaurant should have it, everyone should have some Bacon Salt in their kitchen.
