Twice in the last few weeks I have found myself eating at the brand new Panini's in Concord, unfortunately both were unscheduled so there won't be any photos on this review. I've always like the food at the other Panini's, but I never much cared for the atmosphere. Especially at the Willoughby location that is about the size of shoebox when the patio is closed. However, the Concord location is pretty well laid out with plenty of space around each table, so you don't feel like your eating with someone on your lap. I really like the dark wood that is used throughout, it makes the place look real classy. Whoever owns the place put some serious cash into the building.
The first time I ate there I was dying for some wings, so I ordered up 25 wings ($12.50) with their medium buffalo sauce. The wings were excellent as always. Unlike a lot of the wings you get these are nice and crispy so you know they haven't been sitting around. Well worth the money.
The second time I visited I went real simple with a hamburger ($6.29) and a side of onion rings. They aren't kidding on the menu when they say charbroiled. I ordered mine medium rare and it was burned all to hell on the outside and cooked all the way through. A real disappointment. The onion rings were a different story. They were excellent, I recognized them instantly as being made by Big Gus Onion rings. This was verified with a quick glance at the suppliers on the menu. Just awesome onion rings.
Where I was really disappointed with both visits was the service. Piss poor. The same thing happened both times, we had an extremely friendly and bubbly waitress who was more than glad to get our drinks and take our orders, but once the food came out she was nonexistent. It was really terrible and seeing as that it happen twice in the span of a week, I can only assume that it is normal at the Concord Panini's. They may have some really hot waitresses there which don't get me wrong, I appreciate, but hot waitresses can't make up for crappy service.
The service was more than enough to prevent me from coming back. I might considering getting a to go order, but I won't be sitting down inside the Concord Panini's any time soon.
