Most of the time when you visit a restaurant you take your service for granted, because the service is usually pretty good. However, on those visits were the service is down right bad, no matter how good the food is, you are going to leave with a bad taste in your mouth. That's exactly what happened when we visited Burgers Beers and Breakfast in Willoughby a few weeks ago.
Arriving just past noon we had an expectation that the place would be busy and it definitely was. Stragglers from a late breakfast were making their way out as the Holiday shopping crowd entered, but the outflow wasn't enough to make much room for us. We were seated at the back of the restaurant near the bar and we almost needed some machetes to cut through the smoke to get there. And I thought you people had voted against smoking in public!
As we sat, it was pretty apparent that we were in that one seat that every restaurant has that is completely invisible to the waitstaff. Waitress after waitress rushed by our table taking orders, delivering food and ignoring us. We certainly did a lot of waiting that day: 15 minutes before someone took our drink order, 25 minutes before we ordered our meals, 30 minutes for the appetizers to arrive (as if by a stroke of magic though our meals came out 3 minutes after our appetizers), 20 minutes before we received our bills after we were done eating and another half an hour before I had to get up and ask some guy, who I believe to be the owner, to cash us out so we can go on with our lives. It was a nice quick 2 hour and 15 minute lunch. Aww yeah!
Just so you know, I'm not a dick. Ok, I am, but I'm not being a dick here. I can understand that if a place has good food its gonna be busy and I can deal with that. What really pissed me off the most about the whole experience was that at the table right next to us was seated after we ordered our meals and they left before we even got our checks! Maybe it was because their waitress wasn't reminiscing about what it was like to serve at the Last Supper.
Unfortunately due to the slow service, by the time we actually got our food, any chance of enjoying it had disappeared. Prior to visiting I had read all over the place that they had incredible fries, so for an appetizer we ordered the chili cheese fries. Fresh cut curly fries with chili and cheese. It doesn't get much better than that. They were indeed delicious, although I could have done without the liquid cheese as I just can't stand the stuff.

Except for the liquid cheese, these were really awesome fries.
For my lunch I ordered the All American burger, or something to that effect, that was essentially Beer and Burgers remake of the classic Big Boy. It was pretty damn good. The burger was cooked to my liking and served on a nice crusty piece of garlic bread which is apparently the standard here. Although it was a remake of the classic Big Boy, the sauce was definitely their own creation, but I think that it was a lot better than the original.

Better than the Original Big Boy? For real dog.
Eating out is really an experience and the food is only one part of that experience. That was never more true than when we visited Burgers, Beers and Breakfast in Willoughby. Because of some extremely lousy service the entire meal was ruined. The owner did try to apologize by giving us some buy one get one free drink coupons, but I was really disappointed that he never said that he would talk to the person that provided us such poor service. Even though the food was good, he could have kept his coupons, because I will never be back to use them.
