I was duped. I am a complete fool. I was had by the unscrupulous fruit marketing people. I purchased what I thought was a delicious new kind of melon. Maybe it was just discovered in some remote region of the Amazon or in the foothills in the Himalayas. Here is what the mystery melon looked liked before I cut into it:

Those little mystery melons sure look a lot like little honedew, don't they? Wonder what the inside looks like:

The inside looks very much like the inside of a honeydew as well. How can that be? These aren't little, unripe, honeydews, are they? Couldn't be. These are Sprite Melons damnit! I saw the sign myself.
Nope, I just got ripped off. I paid a premium price for two unripe honeydews. As you may have guessed, they taste exactly like honeydew, except there was very little sweetness. They are kinda cute because of their size, but that is about their only redeeming value. If anything, these little guys have taught me to stop and take a look at what exactly I am buying in the produce section. I guess its just further proof that marketing is king.
On a side note about marketing, be careful when you are buying fruits and vegetables from Giant Eagle under the big "Locally Grown Produce" banner. The produce is not necessarily locally grown, merely the name of the company that provides that produce is "Locally Grown". Keep that in mind next time you want to purchase Ohio grown fruits and vegetables.
