Cohen's Corned Beef 9167 Mentor Ave Mentor, OH 44060 I had tried Cohen's Corned Beef soon after it opened in 2005 and I didn't think it was anything special. As a matter of fact, I thought it was a pretty crappy corned beef sandwich and I vowed to never return. I still haven't, but I did have one of their corned beef sandwiches and it was really good. A friend at the office gave me an extra sandwich he had purchased. Not being one to turn down food, let alone free food, I happily accepted. I consider the gold standard of corned beef on the East-side of Cleveland to be Manhattan Deli in Mentor. This sandwich from Cohen's was just as good. The bread was soft with a nice crispy crust and the meat was juicy with a nice salty corned beef taste. I really don't think that I've had a much better corned beef sandwich. I do remember not liking the pickle the first time I visited and this pickle too was less than stellar, but you don't pay $6.00 for a pickle, do you? So I guess I will have to break my vow of Cohen's Corned Beef abstinence and head back there sometime in the near future, because they make a damn good corned beef sandwich.
