I had dinner today at Longhorn Steak House in Mentor. It sits on Mentor Ave. in front of Dick's Sporting Goods just after Heisley Rd. when heading East. Ed and I got there early and there was an hour wait for a table so we headed to the bar. The prices are a little ridiculous in the bar. Ed had one small draft beer and I had two small margaritas, total cost: $16.00. If I am going to be paying $7 a piece for a margarita it better be a good margarita. The two I had were less than stellar. We finally got a table about 50 minutes after we had arrived. We got cheese fries for an appetizer and although they tried to fool us, we saw right through their evil little plot. They used liquid cheese on the cheese fries. Very sad. What's more irritating though is that they actually tried to cover up the fact that they used that crap by melting some jack cheese on top of it. So when it comes out it looks like you have some excellent cheese fries, but then you find the truth. Despicable. I got the chicken fingers for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they offered asparagus as a side dish. Bonus points right there. I did have to wait quite a long time to get my meal, but my waitress informed me that it was taking so long because they burned my chicken fingers and she refused to serve them to me. I had to wait about an extra ten minutes for my meal. The food was very good though. Excellent chicken fingers, good mash potatoes and the asparagus was fabulous. Our server was also fantastic, quick with refills and just an overall pleasure to be served by. If it wasn't for that damn liquid cheese and the pathetic $7 margaritas they would have gotten a better writeup.
