I went with my family this evening to Silvestro's in Painesville for a nice Lenten dinner. We arrived at the restaurant sometime near 8 p.m. and there was no wait. Although the restaurant is very small, it is still a comfortable place to eat. Although the service was slow we eventually got a waitress who was willing to spend a few minutes to take our order. Being lent I ordered the perch with a side of fries. After taking our order, our order brought us some Italian bread and our salads. The Italian bread was great. It was from T&T's bakery in Painesville. The bread is thick sliced; has to be close to 2 inches. It was extremely fresh. My salad was literally swimming in dressing and some of the lettuce was brown. It was pretty disgusting. Eventually, the perch and fries were brought by our waitress. The perch was perfect. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It couldn't have been any better. Top it off with some malt vinegar and some salt, you have yourself a meal. My order came with four decent sized pieces of fish and a ton of fries. Although I was able to eat all of the fish there were way to many fries to clean the plate. Although I was less than impressed with the service and the salad it was still a good meal. If you are going to stop by Silvestro's, make sure you get directions and try the Lake Erie perch.
