I went to dinner this evening at Dan Pablo's in Willoughby. We got there at 8 p.m. so the wait was only about 15 minutes. That is the one thing I hate about Don Pablo's. When it is cold outside (which it always is in Cleveland) there is absolutely no where to wait. They have a little area by the doors, but no matter where you stand you are in someone's way. It is a real pain in the ass and they ought to do something about it. Another thing I need to complain about is the time it takes to get a drink from the bar to the table. Absolutely ridiculous. I don't know if it was a busy bar, a slow bartender or a bad system. Any way you cut it though it takes too damn long to get an alcoholic beverage at this place. As always, once we were seated we ordered some Queso dip for our chips. For those of you who have never tried the Queso dip before it is a mix of cheese, tomatoes, onions and peppers. It is usually very good, but tonight it lacked flavor. I think that there was way too much cheese. After eating about 50lbs. of chips, my dinner arrived. I ordered the chicken Chimichanga and replaced my rice and beans with chile mashed potatoes. Overall the meal was average at best. I really like their mashed potatoes, but tonight they were cold and very dry. The chimichanga was good, but I wished that there was more chicken in it. Before wrapping this up, I must salute our waitress, Katie L. My old-lady insists that I only liked her because she was cute, but I must say that she brought drink and chip refills before we were even empty. That is something that I never see. She was excellent though. Spent just the right amount of time at the table, got everything we needed, she was friendly and she was quick. Top notch. Overall, I know I've had better meals here before, but tonight could have been better.
