For the second time in 3 days I went with my friend Ed to the Applebees in Mentor. I'm not one of those anti-chain restaurant Nazis like some, but I usually don't prefer them. One thing I must come out and say is that I think that I am addicted to the Garlic-Crusted Shrimp Cesar Salad. If this isn't the best salad I have ever had, its in the top three. The salad is ghetto fabulous. It is your typical Cesar salad with a large bed of romaine lettuce, croutons, grated Parmesan cheese and Cesar dressing, but they top it off with these wonderful little garlic-crusted shrimp. I know, its probably not the lowest carb thing in the world, but they are so freakin good. And they give you so many of them. I would bet that there are 30-40 on every salad. This is one of those salads you eat and you are completely full halfway through eating it. It can easily make 2 meals. Another bonus, the service was absolutely fantastic. We were served by Kerri B. and she was one of the best waitresses I have had in a long time. It must have been pretty obvious to her that we were thirsty, not only did she bring us our beverages (soft drinks), but she also brought us a pitcher to keep us full at all times. And everyone knows, guys love pitchers. Major bonus points there. She was prompt and attentive to our needs as customers. Also, she was polite and was enjoyable to talk to, but not your typical obnoxious waiter who wants to try his stand up routine out on your table. Excellent service. I don't know how much she makes, but she deserves a raise. You must know that a great salad and excellent service are going to give Applebees a high rating.
